Products and Services

Research in NTUA (RNanoLab) focuses on the sustainable design, manufacturing and characterization of advanced composites and nanomaterials. RNanoLab’s services include the synthesis of nanomaterials through chemical methods (e.g. the growth of carbon-based materials with tailored properties, the synthesis of polymeric capsules and metallic particles, as well as the development of hybrid nanostructures). Also, NTUA is working on the manufacturing of (nano-)composite materials with a wide range of applications (CFRPs, thermoplastics, etc) and the advanced characterisation of the performance of the aforementioned structures. In NTUA, pilot lines are designed and constructed to upscale the production and functionalisation of the advanced materials (e.g. CFs production, sizing of fibres, surface treatments, recycling, 3D printing filaments, multifilaments, etc). Modelling and simulation activities support the upscaling by offering optimisation of the processes. In parallel, R-NanoLab coordinates several EU funded initiatives and works closely with industries and SMEs to transfer the fundamental research from the Lab to applied research for the Community.
